A Historic Archive of Jacquard and Dobby Designs

Richard’s family has been involved in weaving fabrics since the 1920s. In 1984, Richard joined and later led the family weaving company, E & S Smith Ltd, a renowned name in the Bradford textile industry.

Preserving Over a Century of Textile Design

Over the past 35 years, Richard has curated an extensive archive of Jacquard and Dobby designs, complete with original technical data. This rare collection spans fabric patterns from both E & S Smith Ltd and other historic textile mills, with designs dating back from the 1880s through to the 1980s.
